Icicles are kinda cool

Even though I hate the snow, and I really HATE the snow, I have to admit this was really was really cool. I didn't leave the house at all today because of the aforementioned hating snow. At about 530 we opened the front door so Joe could go pick up dinner and we saw these icicles hanging from our rain gutters. I had to get a picture.

A Week Of Firsts

This last week Baby Joe had a big week.

His first Haircut

His First Pie Night at the Rogers

His first Thanksgiving (although for some reason he ate the legos instead of the turkey.)

And of course his first birthday. We are so happy to have baby Joe in our family. He makes everyone smile around him an and we couldn't imagine a day without him.
(Special thanks to Deja for making his cake and all the cupcakes.)

10 years ago today.....

Today is me and Joe's 10 year wedding anniversary. I cant believe time has gone by so quickly. We were so young, I don't think we had any idea what we were doing. And even now 10 years later we are still learning :) I have to say I am so deeply great full for having had the pleasure of being married to such a wonderful person. He truly completes me. I cant imagine what my life would be like without him. Marriage isn't always easy, but he defiantly makes it worth it.
Joe I love you forever! Thank you for the past ten years!

The next Mozart

Aaliyah did so well at her piano recital last Saturday. She is really on her way to becoming a very talented pianist. She loves to just go tinker around on the piano all the time. We are so proud of her. Here are some pictures of it. As you can, I am not the best photographer.

First day of no TV and more

Today kicks off the No TV or video games week at Truman Elementary and we are determined to make it work! Today was Sunday and we don't normally watch TV or play video games any way so it wasn't that big of a deal but we will have to see how well we do tomorrow.
This month has been so hectic. The kids started school, which has been going great. Aaliyah is now in first grade and she is learning so much already. She reads so well and lately her math tests have been coming home with 100%. She says she loves school. I hope this attitude keeps up through high school :) Dallin started afternoon kindergarten. It was hard at first because he was pretty shy about going in without mom. But he is doing better now. He is starting to learn how to read. He gets very excited about it and we are proud of his enthusiasm.
Aaliyah and Dallin also started soccer. Aaliyah is great at following the ball and kicking it down the field. Dallin is an amazing goalie. When the ball comes his way he literally dives for it. Every time.
The hardest thing this month however is when Joseph was in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung and leg. We are very blessed to still have him around and I thank Heavenly Father every day for his continuing health. We are so thankful for every one who has prayed for him. And who showed there love and support for him while he was in the Hospital. He is doing great now back in school and work full swing .
So that pretty much raps up September. Its been really busy which is why I haven't been blogging. Plus I cant find the usb cord for my camera so now pictures till i buy a new one :(

just a fun little game.

Here are the directions:

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you have of any of us milners. It doesn't matter if you knew us a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Two big things in one month

Its been a while since I have posted a blog (my apologies to deja). And anyone else out there that happens to read about our little family once in a while. We have had two major firsts in the family this past month. One was Aaliyah lost her two front teeth!!! WOW! next thing you know she will be starting highschool and chasing after boys. The tooth fairly left her two dollars the first time and then after hearing from multiple people that that sure was alot, the tooth fairy decided to only leave her one dollar the second time. Aaliyah didnt seem too bummed.

The second thing that happened was that Dallin started soccer. He has helped assist and even made a goal! He has been a great teammate and is always encouraging the other players. We are so proud of this little athlete! check out all our pictures.

Class of 2020

I cant believe Aaliyah has finished the first year of her education career. She graduated from kindergarten on may 29th. I am so proud of all the many accomplishments she has made over this last year. She really has impressed me with how much she has grown. She has taken off with her reading skills, she is adding and subtracting, and she commonly tells me random facts that she has learned at school. She defiantly is not a baby anymore. She is a mature little girl.
The ceremony was pretty simple. The kids sang a few songs and then Mrs French and the principal passed out a workbook that she has worked on all year. Inside was also her graduation certificate and a dvd of the many things she has done with her class this last year. Her teacher got up and with tears in her eyes told us how much she loved working with our kids and how much she was going to miss them. I know Aaliyah will miss her. She really was a great teacher!
The whole time I was watching Aaliyah sing her songs,I kept thinking how these past six years have just flown by. And then I suddenly realized that I probably would be thinking the same thing when she graduates high school. I don't know how to make the next 12 years go by more slowly, but I am praying that we make every moment count. Aaliyah I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work!

Multi-Tasking

Lately we have been going to the park with Scott and Andrea's family. Today Charmaine and Elliot both want wanted to swing at the same time so Scott decided to multi task. Leave it to Scott to think up creative ways to keep the kiddos entertained. I just loved this pic so I thought I would share it!

Warm Weather=Tons of Fun!

Utah's weather has been very bi-polar lately, sometimes warm sometimes cold. So when the weather is nice we have to take advantage of it. and we did! Deja's family invited us to the park and we had a blast. Thanks to Deja we even had a fun little water fight. I cant wait for this summer so we can have more days like this one!

As a mother there have been moments in my life that my heart has swelled with pride. Last Saturday we had one such moment. Joe recently took the training wheels off Aaliyah's bike, however every time we tried to get her to ride the bike she wouldn't do it. This last Saturday she decided she was going to do it. She got on her bike, tried it and did it! When she came in the house yelling "Mom come see me ride my bike!" I thought I was going to cry. As I was watching my baby girl ride down the street without training wheels I felt like she was going off to college. I cant believe she is growing up so quickly. And even though in some ways it makes me wish I could keep her little, I am also so proud of what a good job she is doing growing up.

a true mom geek story.

So I was thinking the other day about all my mom geek stories and this one I am preaty sure takes the cake because not only does it tell what a mom geek I am but also what little geeks I am raising. :) My kids are huge into the Star Wars Legos game on the WII and they play as often as I let them. One paticular time Aaliyah kept whining because Dallin was using the force to move her instead of the blocks just to irritate her. Without thinking I said "Dallin quit using the Force on your sister". As soon as the words left my mouth I knew that we are a "special family". I would however like to personaly thank Joseph for starting the Star Wars obsession in our home.

Museum Of Natural History

Recently I took Dallin and Charmaine to the Museum of natural History. Their cousins also came along. It was alot of fun. Dallin loved the dinosaurs. We took trax down cause the kids always love riding the train. When we got off the train Charmaine kept saying bye bye train, bye bye train, over and over all the way to the car.

For Andrea

so after reading andrea's blog about bieng a mom geek i had to post my own mom geek story. and although I would love to be able to pin down the exact moment I realized that i was no longer "cool"; im not sure i really can..... (was i ever cool to begin with?) Any way looking back on the last 6 years of motherhood I have come to realize that the signs were there, I just wasn't looking for them. From belting out Barbie's princess and the pauper songs in the car to not caring if my shirt got spit up or poop all over it, from not wearing makeup for about 4 days in a row, to talking to the telemarketer just to have an adult conversation. from bieng happy that nobody walked in on me while using the restroom to laughing hysterically at other "mom geek stories" because they ring so true. So thank you Andrea for helping me to realize how much of a mom geek I am. :0)

Any parent will tell you that if you turn your back for even a moment anything can happen. Aaliyah loves two things right now Art, and Makeup. Today Charmaine tried to follow her big sisters footsteps and combined the two. She found the markers and expiremented with them. The best part is she not only made herself look "pretty", but also used Joe to practice on. One day Joe will have his revenge.......

Kisses From Sister

So Charmaine loves her brother. She loves him so much that she is always kissing him. 9 times out of 10 she gets slober or snot or in this case chocolate all over him. This little picture captured so well how much Baby Joe does not appreciate the little stuff she leaves behind when she kisses him.
